Isolatek International – Company Overview
Isolatek International, originally established in 1875 as a manufacturer of mineral wool, is today a global leader in the development, manufacture, and distribution of proprietary Passive Fire Resistive Materials used to protect structural steel in commercial, industrial, petrochemical, and tunnel applications.
Operating formerly under the trade name United States Mineral Products Company (now USMPC Buyer, Inc.), Isolatek International has built a heritage of innovation and technical excellence spanning nearly 150 years. Our unequaled fireproofing product breadth, technologies, and technical expertise has empowered architects to specify, design, engineer, and operate buildings that perform better, are more aesthetically pleasing, and are safer.
More than half a century ago, Isolatek introduced its first spray-applied fireproofing material under the CAFCO® and Blaze-Shield® brand names, setting new standards for performance in the commercial construction market. Today, Isolatek’s families of Blaze-Shield® and CAFCO® Wet-Mix spray-applied fireproofing products continue to define the industry standard for protecting structural steel in commercial building applications.
In the 1990s, the company expanded its portfolio with the introduction of SprayFilm® water-based intumescent coatings, CAFCO-BOARD® rigid board systems, and the acquisition of key assets from Mandoval Limited, including FENDOLITE® M-II, establishing Isolatek as a leader in cementitious hydrocarbon fire protection.
Building on this foundation, Isolatek has continued to innovate in new technologies:
- SprayFilm® WB 5 – the industry’s first zero VOC water-based intumescent fireproofing, launched in 2010.
- Cellu-Shield® – our thermal acoustical cellulose insulation system introduced in 2023.
- FireSolve® SB – a solvent-based intumescent coating introduced in 2024 for demanding architectural and industrial applications.
- Albi Protective Coatings – select assets, including Albi Clad TF+ and Albi DriClad were acquired in 2024, expanding Isolatek’s fireproofing portfolio.
Isolatek International today operates four manufacturing facilities in the United States and is supported globally by three manufacturing licensees outside the Americas, enabling worldwide reach and localized service.
Its products are marketed under the CAFCO® and FENDOLITE® trademarks throughout the Americas, and under the ISOLATEK® trademark internationally — providing architects, engineers, and contractors with one of the broadest and most trusted selections of passive fire protection solutions.
Isolatek International, headquartered in Stanhope, NJ, is proud to be a “Made In New Jersey” manufacturer as part of the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. Isolatek International is an essential business that continues to manufacture life safety structural steel fireproofing products that will save lives in the event of a fire, as well as protect their valuable assets.
