- Worldwide manufacturing facilities ensure timely product availability.
Product Uses
It is specifically developed for spray and trowel applications to protect structural columns and beams in exterior environments and interior applications where highest levels of abrasion resistance and durability are necessary.
Recommended for interior and exterior exposed application to include clean rooms, parking garages, mechanical rooms, manufacturing facilities, petrochemical plants, and other industrial uses where high density concrete type protection is required.
Fire Tests & Approvals
In order to meet the performance and durability criteria set forth by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and other major industry specifying organizations, CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II has undergone the most rigorous testing in accordance with the world’s most demanding safety protocols.
This cellulosic fire test is traditionally used to evaluate materials for use in the protection of modern day commercial structures. This test reaches 1000°F (537°C) after 5 minutes and gradually reaches a temperature of 2000°F (1093°C) after a period of up to 4 hours.
CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II is classified by Underwriters Laboratories for up to 4 hours protection in accordance with ANSI/ UL263 and is listed within various UL Designs.
The UL Classification Mark indicates compliance with global requirements as it relates to a specific risk or casualty. With the Classification service, UL determines that a manufacturer has demonstrated the ability to produce a product complying with UL’s requirements with respect to one or more of the following:
- Specific risk, e.g., casualty, fire, etc.
- Performance under specific conditions
- Compliance with regulatory codes
Compliance with specific standards such as international standards - Other condition, as determined by UL
All of the products carrying a UL Classification Mark are covered by UL’s Follow-Up Services program to verify that products carrying the UL Classification Mark continue to be manufactured in compliance with UL’s safety requirements.
This cellulosic fire test is traditionally used to evaluate materials for use in the protection of modern day commercial structures. This test reaches 1069°F (576°C) after 5 minutes and gradually reaches a temperature of 2107°F (1153°C) after a period of up to 4 hours.
CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II has been evaluated in accordance with BS476: Parts 20-21: 1987 & EN 1363-2 for periods up to 4 hours on beams and columns which is listed within a Warrington assessment report.
This fire test is provided to evaluate materials for use in petrochemical facilities and other similar structures that may be subjected to higher levels of heat generated by hydrocarbon-based fires. Unlike cellulosic-based fires, which are evaluated in accordance with test method ANSI/UL 263, ASTM E 119, which reaches a temperature of 2000°F (1093°C) over a period of 4 hours, the ANSI/UL 1709 test method reaches 2000°F after five minutes and maintains that temperature over the duration of the test. Only materials tested and classified in accordance with UL 1709 can be used where the risk of a hydrocarbon fire exists.
CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II and CAFCO FENDOLITE TG / ISOLATEK Type M-II and ISOLATEK Type TG are classified by Underwriters Laboratories for up to 4 hours protection in accordance with the Rapid Rise Fire Test. The specific listing within the UL Fire Resistance Directory is UL UL Design XR704 , UL Design XR729 , UL Design XR730
2nd ANSI/UL 1709, Rapid Rise Fire Test of Protection Materials for Structural Steel (following initial ANSI/UL 1709 Rapid Rise Fire Test) as above however subjecting CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II to Two Full Scale UL 1709 Fire Tests within a 24-hour period (tested, allowed to cool to ambient and re-tested).
In addition to the required ANSI/UL1709 environmental exposure tests (Aging, High Humidity, Industrial Atmosphere, Salt Spray and Combined Wet/Freeze/Dry Cycling), CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II has also been tested under the following conditions:
- Acid Spray – Exposure of the material (with and without topcoat) to a hydrochloric acid /water fog spray.
- Solvent Spray – Exposure of the material (with and without topcoat) to a spray applied solvent for 5 cycles. Each cycle consists of the application of the solvent, 6 hour dry time, re-application of the solvent, and dry time of 18 hours.
BS476 Part 21 1987 is the British Standards method for determination of the fire resistance of load bearing elements of construction including Beams, Columns, Floors, and Flat roofs. CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II has undergone testing and meets the criteria for five limiting temperatures ranging from 662°F (350°C) to 1022°F (550°C). Thicknesses of CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II have been determined based on the required hourly rating, the steel section’s W/D (Hp/A) ratio and the required limiting temperature.
The above test serves to demonstrate the resistance and thermal performance of a fire resistive material subjected to a blast, either by fueled or explosive sources. Steel members protected with CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II were subjected to a blast (having a nominal overpressure of 3 bars) in accordance with Spadeadam Site Test Procedure No. 108. The results following this extensive blast revealed little to no damage to the fire resistive material.
CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II has been issued a Lloyd’s Register Certificate after successfully completing this test.
CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II is a Factory Mutual (FM) approved product.
CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II has obtained the Factory Mutual (FM) approval for use as a fire protective coating for Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) steel storage vessels and process structures with Hose Stream.
An MEA Number is the number assigned to a product that has been approved for use in New York City by the MEA Division. CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II has been reviewed and MEA numbers have been assigned.
The MEA division regulates “certain materials and equipment (that) require Department of Buildings acceptance.” These manufactured items affect public safety, health and welfare (including structural stability and fire safety) and are usually a permanent part of a building.
Underwriters Laboratories (UL) has conducted a technical evaluation on CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II. The result of the evaluation process assures that the CCAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II is in compliance with the International Building Code (IBC).
CAFCO FENDOLITE M-II / ISOLATEK Type M-II complies with the requirements of the following specifications:
