High-Rise Buildings Spray-Applied Fireproofing

Steel framed HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS, as defined in Chapter 2 of the 2012 International Building Code (IBC), must be protected with Applied Fireproofing that is capable of achieving minimum bond strength requirements established in IBC Table 403.2.4. Isolatek International has developed an array of fireproofing products to meet these demands, while delivering superior thermal performance, durability, and cost effectiveness.

The illustration to the left identifies the Isolatek International Applied Fireproofing products that will satisfy the minimum bond strength requirement based upon the height of your structure, as measured from the lowest level of fire department vehicle access to the highest occupied floor (including mezzanines). The entire structure must be protected with Applied Fireproofing that will meet the minimum bond strength value specified in IBC Table 403.2.4 for the height of the building.

Over 420 feet; (1,000 psf)

Up to 420 feet; (430 psf)

Bond Strength Provisions
  • For building heights of up to 420’, a minimum bond strength of 430 psf is required throughout the building.
  • For building heights of 420’ or greater, a minimum bond strength of 1,000 psf is required throughout the building.
