Isolatek International, the industry leader in the marketing and manufacturing of passive fire protection materials for the construction industry has an immediate opening for a full-time Vice President of Operations in our Operations Department at its corporate headquarters in Stanhope, NJ.
The Vice President of Operations is responsible for the overall operational performance of multiple manufacturing and tolling sites and is responsible for leading, health and safety, productivity, and all manufacturing related activities. This role will collaborate with the Sr. Leadership Team to drive the Company’s goals and to deliver against them.
MAIN STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors overall manufacturing activities to ensure products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures excellence in all site fundamentals related to safety, quality, housekeeping, productivity, and maintenance
- Responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing at all locations
- Ensures manufacturing metrics/variances best practices, budgeting, CAPEX projects
- Responsible for developing short- and long-term strategies to ensure manufacturing is positioned to deliver the commercial plan
- EstAlbished the leadership standards for KPI’s
- Develops a high performing operations team, assessing and then reconfiguring and redesigning (as required) to create a sustainable, lean, collaborative group who focus on areas of productivity, quality, cost, delivery, safety and morale
- Develops a highly capable team with a clear succession plan
- Evaluates current systems, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and implements actions to drive operating efficiencies and continuous improvement
- Responsible for overall safety and security and critical manufacturing and facility technical engineering activities
- Reduces plant quality costs by improving manufacturing efficiencies, waste, and energy
- Develops and recommends manufacturing policies and programs which guide Isolatek in maintaining and improving profitability of the operation
- Responsible for management of all locations
- Ensures all fixed assets are maintained
- Assumes coordination of raw materials, sourcing, and inventory
- Develops operating, maintenance and capital budgets and ensures compliance
- Coordination of production requirements and inventories for all locations with Sales, Customer Service and Logistics
- Works with R&D regarding product and process development
- Provides manufacturing assistance to licensed manufacturers by the Company globally
- Complies with local, state, and federal environmental rules and regulations
- Defines, develops, and implements lean production processes; implements and maintains standardized tools, systems, and processes throughout the manufacturing organization – promotes best practices across manufacturing systems
- Provides a safe working environment compliant with OSHA health and safety rules and regulations and company policies
- Focuses efforts on continuous improvement to properly scale the operations and improve the operations and improve utilization and productivity through a lean mindset/philosophy coupled with appropriate investment in technology
- Reduces cost and risk to the company by managing manufacturing challenges
- Responsible for department budget preparation, projection coordination and long-range planning initiatives
- Responsible for maintaining effective/production relationships with vendors, toll manufacturers and suppliers
- Actively participates and provides input into Isolatek company strategy and drive key strategic activities
- Closely collaborates with R&D, Sales & Marketing to ensure readiness for manufacturing new products
- Remains current on industry, new equipment, and technology
- Develops and complies with work rules and policies for both Union and Non-Union plants
Experience & Education
Minimum 15 years of successful experience, leading multiple locations and teams spanning manufacturing, operations supply chain management, procurement, safety, quality.
Bachelor of Science degree – Engineering preferred
MBA preferred
SKILLS:
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and project management skills
- Must communicate effectively in verbal, written and presentation form to diverse audiences
- Must be able to logically assess manufacturing and business issues, determine critical elements, evaluate solutions, and decide course of action
- Strong financial and analytical skills
- Experience managing multiple, smaller, labor intensive, low capital sites
- Must have strong negotiating skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytic and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to provide direct reports with clear business objectives, strategy, and performance metrics
- Knowledge and utilization of Lean Manufacturing processes
- Prior Manufacturing experience, multi -plants
