Isolatek International, the industry leader in the marketing and manufacturing of passive fire protection materials for the construction industry has an immediate opening for a full-time Construction Materials Technical Analyst in our Technical Services Department at its corporate headquarters in Stanhope, NJ.
The Construction Materials Technical Analyst’s primary role will be responsible for providing complex solutions to technical inquiries from customer construction industry professionals, i.e., ISOLATEK Recognized Applicators, architects, engineers, general contractors, etc. as well as maintaining an up-to-date sample inventory and coordinating shipment of samples as needed.
Essential functions:
- Communicates with customers, industry professionals and salesmen in response to inquiries about ISOLATEK and other industry products, which requires expertise in fire test standards and technical guidance documents and practices.
- Provides timely and thorough engineering solutions to customers, industry professionals and salesmen relating to ISOLATEK products by working independently and drawing on the Applications & Development Engineer’s industry experience and intimate familiarity with the design, applications, testing, and limitations of ISOLATEK’s products, as well as ISOLATEK’s repository of prior solutions to customer inquiries.
Other Responsibilities:
- Prepares specifications for specifiers, architects, and engineers in both domestic and international markets.
- Assists with the continued development and management of competitive fireproofing testing, designs and thicknesses for dissemination to internal and external Technical/Sales/Marketing personnel.
- Collaborates with Technology/R&D Team in support of industry initiatives related to technical guidance documents, practices and standards.
- Representing Isolatek interests in industry group meetings as required.
- Assists customers with estimating ISOLATEK products and provide full estimates for intumescent products, as needed.
- Reviews ISOLATEK product literature (domestic & international) for required updates.
- Ensures customers receive the service required in an accurate and timely manner. Make company aware of issues and problems relating to product quality and related issues.
- Ability to act as a Field Services representative to help troubleshoot project or product related problems and provide field demos for newly developed products, which includes but is not limited to spraying, assisting with adhesion/cohesion evaluations, density evaluations, equipment set up, etc.
- Provides contractor-training seminars as required.
- Understanding of ISOLATEK’s product line across all industries and providing engineering letters and documentation to customers, industry professionals and salesmen on items relevant to ISOLATEK’s products and testing.
- Performs necessary business travel up to but not limited to 30% of the time.
- Becomes proficient in operation of application equipment and application of CAFCO Fireproofing and Insulation materials.
- Prepares CAFCO® Brand and ISOLATEK® Brand standard product samples as requested by Sales & Marketing, Technical Sales Representatives, etc., record sample inventories, and maintain minimum inventory levels.
- Coordinates and conducts product compatibility evaluations for primers and other coating materials with all CAFCO and ISOLATEK Type products.
- Coordinates and updates technical primer and warranty databases.

Experience: Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Engineering preferred. Experience in construction industry, a plus.
Skills:
- Superior Communication, Customer Service, and Analysis Skills and willingness to learn Technical Writing.
- Ability to learn to read and understand construction documents, specifications, and drawings.
- Must be able to use Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and AutoCAD (or similar drafting software).
- Must be organized and meet deadlines and goals.
- Must be willing to be hands on with all materials as necessary.
