Home of the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs has been off to the races transforming critical areas to provide new, unique, extraordinary guest experiences with a new project planned each year for the next three years. The First Turn Experience kicked of the renovations with a $90 million capital investment project, premiering more than 7,300 permanent all-inclusive seats. This will be a unique location with exclusive views of the Kentucky Derby walkover and the dramatic first turn framed by the historic Twin Spires. Recognized applicator Asher Construction & Professional Insulators applied our CAFCO SprayFilm WB 5 Intumescent Fireproofing Material (IFRM) and CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD II and CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD HP Spray-Applied Fireproofing Materials (SFRMs). A site visit by our Technical Team ensured Asher Construction & Professional Insulators were dialed in for maximum productivity.
CAFCO SprayFilm WB 5 significantly reduces Dry Film Thicknesses, expediting application time and allowing applicators to stay on track. CAFCO SprayFilm WB 5 provides up to 3-hour fire resistance ratings while maintaining a smooth architectural finish. Combined aesthetics with long-lasting performance CAFCO SprayFilm WB 5 can be finished with various topcoat finishes and colors, allowing architects to blend design elements with the exposed steel while protecting it simultaneously. CAFCO SprayFilm WB 5 contains no solvents or harmful compounds, allowing for environmentally friendly application and clean-up. CAFCO SprayFilm WB 5 requires less energy to produce, ship, and install, contributing to project LEED certification.
CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD II & CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD HP dry spray portland cement-based SFRMs were applied to the decking, steel beams, and columns at the first turn experience. When applied to the decking, CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD product’s high thermal insulation properties and acoustic control capabilities contribute to the building ambiance. CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD provides up to 4-hour fire resistance ratings to meet or exceed all major fire protection specifications for Commercial structures, including ANSI/ UL 263, ASTM E119, and CAN/ ULC-S101. With UL “Investigated for Exterior Use” Classification, CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD products are suitable to remain exposed to a variety of extreme weather environments during construction. They also have exceptionally high recycled content (67% pre-consumer CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD II & 56% pre-consumer CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD HP), and other environmentally friendly characteristics which provide significant LEED credits.
